1 year has gone by…

I joined buddyslim just over a year ago, and what a year it’s been!  I have been through some major highs - finding out I was pregnant and having my beautiful daughter, Mikayla, and some serious lows - mom having her heart attack and Ron trying to blame it all on me - all while dealing with a very high risk, tough pregnancy.

I am so greatful for finding buddyslim!  The friends and buddies I have here are the best anyone can hope for!  My tribe helps me through every single day, and when I post a blog I get such great feedback, help and support!  I’ve never known anything like this in my whole life!

I went out for my birthday and Kama’s birthday dinner last night and my good friend came as well…  Kama surprised me with that one!  It was a great night!  Last year my birthday started with me wading through a few inches of poopy water from the over flow on mom’s toilet.  I’m sure this year, I won’t have that - it should be better.  If I could take yesterday as my birthday, it would definitely top it by miles!!  Thanks, Kama!

This morning was weigh-in.  I maintained.  I’m ok with that.  I had TOM visiting this week, and my quads are still achy, so I’m sure I have gained muscle this week.  I know next week I’ll have a loss, so I’m not upset about maintaining.  That right there is a big improvement on my mentality.  If I were to have maintained and NOT had all of you, I would be quitting this week!

So a big Thank you to Dr Mark for creating this website, and to each and every single one of you on here!  This year is going to be even better, because this year I’ll get the weight off!

Love you all!!  ((((((((((((Big hugs)))))))))))

I love my tribe!!

You know the tv show Diet Tribe, right?  Well I haven’t seen it, but I have this groupd of ladies, there is 7 of us, that email each other every single day, sometimes all day.  Well I will tell you right now, that if it weren’t for these ladies, my tribe, I would have given up on this journey so long ago!

I am the sole income for my family of 3 so our grocery budget is almost always very miniscule!  With the help of my tribe I have been able to come up with great recipies.  On the days I feel I did a poor job at working out, or feel guilty that I didn’t work out at all..  they tell me that at least I did something, or they come up with a way to challenge me to move anyway.  They are just the best people!

My tribe is Kama, Nancy, Anj, Tracey, Lori and Debbie.  Without the help, guidance, laughs, cheers and encouragement from these ladies, I wouldn’t be able to do this.  So this is my way of giving them a GREAT BIG THANK YOU!!

You guys rock!!  And thank you so much for all that you do for me each and every day!!

HELP!!! I need your feedback!!

Ok, so here’s my dilema.  Tuesdays and Thursdays I can get into the fitness center at work to use the weight machines and what not…  OR I can stay at home and do one of the video’s/DVD’s that I have (thanks to Kama) and get full cardio and strength training.    My dilema is:  which one would be better for me?  When I work out at the fitness center at work, there’s no one there.. no one, zip, zilch, nada.  Which means no one to talk to, no one to challenge me, no one to motivate me.  I’m usually fine doing the weights, but when it comes to doing the cardio after..  I lose interest.  Now granted I’ve only been using the videos/DVDs for a few days, but I feel like I’m more motivated and there’s more of a purpose.  But I’m not sure I’m getting the best strength training for me.  So, here’s where I need your feedback…  what should I do?  Should I go ahead and keep using the fitness center to get my strength training on the 2 days I can, or just skip it for now and do more of the videos/DVDs?  Please let me know!  I appreciate all your feedback and all your support and help!

A bit dissapointed.

Ok, so my Zumba class that I was so excited about taking, started last night.  Now I have to say in all honesty that it was a good workout.  The problem is that I don’t think it was a real Zumba class.  It seemed more like a low impact aerobics class.  The instructor basically had us doing 4 moves in a sort of pattern, moves she called “zumba” “merengue” “mambo” and “shakira”.  There wasn’t nearly as much dancing as I was expecting.  Now, I’ll give the instructor the benefit of the doubt by saying, maybe she is going easy on us, kind of easing us into it.  Don’t worry, I’m not going to stop going to the class, however, if it doesn’t change a bit as we go, I may not sign up for it again, at least with this instructor.

As to Nancy and the jump rope challenge on the Wildcats team….  the jump rope I attempted to use today was a stupid rope.  It liked to whack me in the head a lot, or get caught on my shoes!  I didn’t like that mean jump rope!  LOL

I did do my full workout this morning with the weights and I did 40 crunches, 24 reverse crunches, and 30 on each side oblique crunches.  Looking forward to weigh in tomorrow!  :-)
